How to Use a Circular Saw - Shop Class Basics

Lowe's Shop Class Basics teaches you how to use a circular saw safely and properly. Always wear eye and ear protection. Adjust your blade so it only extends about 1/4" below the material. Check that the blade guard is functioning properly. Use both hands to guide the saw. Start the saw first, then move the saw into the material. There are two types of cuts: cross cuts and rip cuts. Cross cuts go across the grain and rip cuts go with the grain. For cross cuts, you can use a square cut jig to give you a straight cut. When cutting plywood, you can use a 1x4 board as a guide. Clamp it to the board and make sure it is straight and even. Find circular saws and other power tools at www.Lowes.com Watch the Shop Class Basics video on How to Use a Miter Saw: www.youtube.com
